Class Homework for this week in addition to the lesson

OK class, this is a reminder.  Last week I put on the board 8 Old Testament Men.  As a class put them in what we thought was proper the Chronological order.  Not the order they are mentioned in the bible but chronological order.  I then asked you to read your bible and any other resource you have relating to these characters and write down at least one thing you personally did not know about that character.  Be prepared to share that fact with the class.  We will discuss this Sunday.  I hope we can build on something with this over the next few weeks.

We put the list in this order.  Check it for accuracy.

7. Nehemiah
8. Solomon

Update on Gayle, she is still in the hospital - Youth in New Orleans

Gayle is not doing well and has not been able to come home yet from the hospital.  She is having stomach issues not related to the knee surgery.  Pray for her and Brother Doug.

1 Samuel 13 & 16 - Take a look at both chapters in entirety.  Review these questions and lets discuss what was going on with Choices made in these verses.

1.         Let's set a context here. See if you can put the following biblical characters in chronological order: Moses, Abraham, David, Saul, Samuel, Nehemiah, Adam, Solomon.

 

2.         Again, context. What is Saul's job? What is Samuel's job?

 

3.         What exactly did Saul do wrong here?

 

4.         How did Saul justify his behavior?

 

5.         What was the real issue here? Why did Saul do what he did?

 

6.         1 Samuel 16.7. What do we learn about God and following God from this verse?

 

7.       What do we learn about reaching men from this same verse?

 

8.       How does this tendency to choose based on externals get us in trouble? What does it cost us?
