This weeks info to Study

Wow, 3 weeks and we have covered 20 verses.....  actually this is about what we figured on considering the base Tommy and I wanted to lay for the class.  Over the next 2 weeks we will study Revelation 2 and 3.  The 7 churches John was instructed to write about.  

Our prayer is for us all to become "better Christians" as we continue our study.   Pray Tommy and I will stay centered on the most important aspect of this whole study.... Jesus Christ.  

Through the study of apocalyptic scripture we should actually gain HOPE in The Lord and not fear from the unknown.

Please read and study Chapters 2 and 3 of Revelation.  We should cover 2 - 4 churches this week, so really focus on the first 4 in your personal study.  We will also provide you with some handouts to help with this study Sunday.

Gary
's heart function is continuing to deteriorate. It has dropped from 50% function to 20% in the last 24 hours. The doctors have ruled out any complication from drugs/medication, smoking, the surgery in December where the aorta tare was repaired and a number of other things. They believe there is a hereditary factor they are dealing with since his Aunt and Uncle both died suddenly of heart problems. They have recommended that his 7 year old son have some tests done as well.
 
Please pray for a miracle as he is in need of one desperately right now.
 
I am leaving at 4pm and headed to the hospital. Will keep you posted.

Gary is the fiancée of my account executive in my office.  This week was a massive moment for Gary and the family and our office.

We have been praying for Gary's heart condition as it was failing and to be honest, no one thought he would make it.  We have all been praying for a healing and God's will to be done.  He really was not making any progress.  He briefly was discharged a couple of weeks ago and did not make it a whole day and had to be admitted back to intensive care with major concerns again for his long term improvement.  

Because of some conversations this week with Gary by the doctor, friends etc.... it became more and more apparent that Gary was lost as can be and not saved as previously thought (even though he stated he was a "Christian")  At HDI our prayer focus changed to pray for his salvation first.

On Tuesday of this week, another of our employees was burdened to drive to Atlanta and talk with him about his eternal destiny.  After 2 hours of discussion, Gary's heart was healed for eternity.  Gary realized his lostness and wept for 2 hours asking God to forgive him and save him.  

Gary is now a brother in Christ and is looking forward to serving Him !!!  Oh, and on another note......  Gary has been dismissed from the hospital today and just walked in our office with the biggest smile on his face.

God is good.  He healed Gary of his most pressing need.  Gary still has lasting damage physically but he is a new creature in Christ for eternity on what counts and that is his soul.  So you see, God's will was done and then some.

This Sunday Lesson and News

Class

Okay, the most important thing you do to prepare for the lesson this week is set your clock up (Spring Forward) Saturday night.  If you are not there, the lesson is not near as active.  Seriously, We hope to see everyone there Sunday morning.

The text this week is simple.  Revelation 1:9-20

Ask yourself these questions as your read, study and pray.  Why is God speaking to us in such a mysterious way?  How does this study make me a better Christian?  Who are the characters in these verses and How does the author describe them?

Also, be in much prayer about our involvement with 2nd Genesis Ministry.  There are more details of the needs to follow, but continue to pray.

Christians are in the Crosshairs-Pray for our Brothers and Sisters in Egypt.

Again, the revolution in Egypt is not going to have the "peaceful" ending everyone was hoping for.... the Muslims are going to not only take over and try to ruin ties with Israel, but they are after the Christians as well. This is the church St. Mark started around 50AD. "Coptic Christians" Look it up and remember, all these things must occur. All the more reason for us to be looking into God's word more intently.

Our month to help with Cade Walker and his family has been moved from April to March. Our meals are being provided by Kris, Marcie, Vivian and myself. Laura Jo and Marcie are putting together a snack basket. The following items are still needed:
Magazines, books, reading materials for Danielle.  Gift cards for food, or gas (especially with gas prices where they are now). Money for cafeteria meals and vending machines. Personal notes of encouragement, love, and support.

Text and thoughts for this week and beyond

As many of you already know, Tommy and I will be teaching directly from the Bible while working with each other to write the "lesson plan" on Revelation.  Tommy is batting lead off and begins the study this Sunday.  We will explain the process this Sunday and we are starting at the very beginning of the book and laying a ground work to hopefully prepare us for a complete run through the entire book.

To prepare for this Sunday, simply read Revelation Chapter 1:1-8.  Feel free to read beyond those verses if you like.  We are praying and ask you to pray also that God reveals His truth and Himself to all of us through this study.
