Reminder about Sunday School this week

We will be meeting with the other Adult Classes this Sunday in the Sanctuary for a Special Combined Sunday School Class.

Also, make yourself a mental note.... Tommy and I to begin our new Sunday School format will be covering the Book of Revelation for a few weeks.  You can begin preparing by personal reading and studying and asking yourself questions about what you read.  Save those questions and email or let Tommy and I know and we will do our best to research and cover them during class of via an email.  We hope everyone is looking forward to something fresh.

Be in much prayer for each other this week.  There are many needs your brothers and sisters in Christ have.  Pray for the lost people you know.  Pray for eyes to open and hearts to be molded and ears to hear.

See you Sunday !!!

Update on Josh

Guys

We wanted to update everyone as soon as possible on the results of Josh's biopsy.  Some of you may already know via Facebook and Twitter, but yesterday we went back to the Doctor to get the results.

Josh's tumor is benign.  It does have what they would call lymphatic cells in it, but there is no cancer present.  ZERO.... The doctors are stunned/surprised.  We have gone from everyone, all doctors being pretty much sure (90%) that he had cancer to this today.  Wow  and thank you God is all we can say.

Now what.... The tumor is literally laying against the aorta and tucked under the breastbone kinda between the heart and the lung.  Due to it's location and it being benign the best treatment for now is to leave it alone.  To quote the doctor, "the surgery is risky to remove it, and they could, but with it being benign, there is no need to risk complications, infection, etc....."  Another thing to be thankful of.  Apparently even benign tumors can present problems.

He will have several scans in the next couple of years at least at about 4 - 9 month intervals to be sure it is not growing or constricting the aorta or pressing against any other organs.  We are very comfortable with this as well as Josh.  God is so good and we know he could have chosen to do something different, but we are very grateful of where we are today with this deal.

It has been one of the most humbling times of our life to know so many people have lifted our family up in prayer with both of our boys. Luke is doing well and Josh is back at school and has only missed a couple of games this season.

We have been amazed that literally people have been praying across the globe for us.  You guys are very special to our family and we a very blessed to have family at Grace !!!!

Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers and words of encouragement.  You will never know how a quick text message, email, voicemail, phone call, facebook, twitter or whatever means to someone till you have been in need of encouragement and prayer at a crossroad like this.  Again, thank you all so much.

Love In Christ,

Lee and Regina Daniel and family

Praying for World Revival .... In the West, stepping out may bring ridicule. In other countries, it may bring physical threats, job loss, jail, and even death.

World Revival

Praying for World Revival

Our call at World Revival is to pray for a worldwide spiritual revival. Every major revival in history has been bathed in prayer.  We must submit ourselves to the Lord in prayer and allow Him to direct our steps.  We must be willing to move out of our comfort zones in Christ.  We first pray and then move.

Comfort zones are subjective.  In the West, stepping out may bring ridicule.  In other countries, it may bring physical threats, job loss, jail, and even death.  There is a cost in stepping out.  The Apostle Paul warned us in 2 Timothy that we will see difficult times in the last days, but he goes on to admonish us to preach the Word both in and out of season. The time is coming when people will not endure sound doctrine, a time when we will be poured out like a drink offering.  We prepare ourselves for these times by being in the Word and in prayer.

Over the next few months, we will share devotionals, prayer points, and encouragement via email to unite the community.  We also encourage you to visit the on-line prayer community at www.worldrevival.org to better understand what believers around the world are experiencing and the prayer that they need.  While there, you may also share your prayer requests and answered prayer reports.

Thank you for joining us in prayer for world revival. We look forward to what the Lord will do in and through us.

God Loves like a 'Grand' Father Scriptures: Hosea 11:1-11

Tommy will be brining the lesson this week.  We have 2 more lessons on Hosea and then we move into the lesson plan we discussed with you a couple of weeks ago.

See the text above for this week.  Remember to pray for each other and our church.  Also, be thinking and praying about Deacon nominations for this year.  If you have any suggestions you can give those to me Sunday.

Thanks for everyones prayers for Josh this week.  We have certainly felt them.  I really don't know what we would do without God and the people he has placed in our lives.  Actually that statement alone does not even qualify as an adequate response to how our family has felt during this time.  Just know that God is awesome, He is Holy, He is full of Mercy and Love and He is our Lord and he is in Control.  Thank you all !!!

Hello all,

Gary's heart function is continuing to deteriorate. It has dropped from 50% function to 20% in the last 24 hours. The doctors have ruled out any complication from drugs/medication, smoking, the surgery in December where the aorta tare was repaired and a number of other things. They believe there is a hereditary factor they are dealing with since his Aunt and Uncle both died suddenly of heart problems. They have recommended that his 7 year old son have some tests done as well.

Please pray for a miracle as he is in need of one desperately right now.

I am leaving at 4pm and headed to the hospital. Will keep you posted.

Thanks all,

Laura

Update today on Josh.... sorry if this is getting to be like spam in your inbox. (that was a lame attempt at humor)

As Regina and I reflect on the day, we still stand amazed at how wonderful and merciful God is and how the hand of God is both gentle and oh so strong.  We serve a mighty and just God, and a God whose ways are so different than our ways.  It has been a very fast 48 hours and to be honest, I am not sure when one day began the other other one ended.  We also stand amazed at all the wonderful friends and family that are willing to reach out and pray and let us know how much they (you all) care.  We will never be able to thank you enough.  You have been lifting up our family for Luke and other issues for several months and we thank you.

On to the update....

We all 3 went to Josh's Oncologist appointment today (arranged by God, with a little help by Kendra, LOL).   Josh was his typical self.  Joking and with a very good attitude and thinking we are all making a big fuse over nothing.  He is absolutely not worried.... at least from the outside and he is usually pretty transparent.  Anyway, after the visit with the Oncologist he believes it is most likely lymphoma.  Obviously there is a chance it is not, but he is trying to be realistic.  The next step is a PET scan, Monday.  We don't have the time yet, but hopefully we will hear from them early Monday morning.  Thursday is a follow up appointment after the PET scan.  After that, they will determine when the biopsy will be and that will be done by a surgeon.  Hopefully the PET will show no other suspicious lymphs.

The positives from today are as follows according to the doctor:

He has no symptoms that are usually apparent
His blood counts are normal
He is young and in very good shape (good for recovery

Josh was scheduled to make a road trip with his team today to the University of The Cumberlands and was to start at DH.  He was very excited and looking forward to the opening of the season.  Josh is also scheduled to start on the mound Tuesday at Truett McConnell which he really wants to be able to do.  At this point, if his weakness from the flu subsides he will probably be able to do make that start.  We are hoping for that.

We are looking forward to Sunday and seeing everyone and worship.

Lee

Update and info about Josh - Please continue to pray

Many of you have already heard the news about Josh via twitter and texts and possibly phone calls.  This is the first time I have been able to sit down at the computer and gather my thoughts to all of you.

To cut to the chase, it looks like at this point Josh has lymphoma.  (cancer, leukemia, to tell you the truth, I am not really sure).  How did we get here.  Last night, Josh called us to come get him from College as he believed he had the flu and needed to go to the doctor and felt too bad to drive himself and deal with it.

Regina was at church at the time, so she took off to get him last night about 9pm.  We decided to bring him home to the ER here in case they need to keep him, etc....  They checked in the ER at 11pm and was sent home at 3:30am with the diagnosis of the flu.  (Josh did not take the flu shot much to mine and Regina's displeasure, but what can you do with a stubborn 21 yr old)

As I was going to work this morning about 8:30am today, the ER called and wanted him back up there asap for a CT scan.  They found an abnormality in his upper left chest cavity.  We all went back to the hospital ER and by 11am they took him back for the CT scan.  Shortly after that, the ER doctor was back in our room with a possibility of what it was.  He told is it was most likely lymphoma. (I think he said leukemia, and blood cancer as well, to be honest, I don't remember).

They immediately began trying to get him in to an oncologist.  The soonest was Feb 11th.  To be honest, we found it hard to get him into any oncologist in the area.   Thanks to Kendra seeing our tweets, she got right on it, pulling strings and got us in a very good oncologist tomorrow.

The next steps are vague.  What we do know is, he will have a biopsy via his bronchial tube.  Regina has had this done before.  They will also do many scans of his entire body to be sure there are no other masses.  We are praying and believing there are no other masses!  I believe Chemo and possibly radiation would be next if needed.  Again, all this is way too early to tell.

As Regina said, God is not stunned nor surprised.  We are, but He is not.   We are trusting God and placing all our faith in Him.  Last night before all this happened Luke and I were talking about another issue and happiness in life.  It was totally unrelated to us but someone else we were discussing.  We both agreed, God doesn't promise us we will be happy all the time.  There will be joys and sorrows, physical pleasure and pain, but through it all, He is in control and what He wants from us is to be faithful to Him and trust Him and praise Him through the good times and the bad times and through that God will be glorified.  God is going to be glorified no matter what.......  we should be part of that.  Are we afraid, scared, still stunned?  Yes, but we are human  and God knows that.... but in the deepest part of our soul God knows our heart and knows we are believing and trusting in Him.

Thank you in advance for your prayers for our son.  Both our children mean so much to us, just as anyones would.  The last several months have been difficult, but God has and is seeing us through it all.

We love you all.  Our church family and Sunday school class mean so much to us.  I cannot imagine life without you all being a part of us.

Love

Lee

We often talk about God's will and understanding or discerning what it is in
our life. I heard 2 profound thoughts today I wanted to share.

To Understand God's Will, You must Read God's Word.....

&

Whatever Consumes your Time, Controls your Life........

Have a great week !!!!
